MECP2020 postponed to

September 13th to 16th 2021 Aachen (Germany)

Dear colleagues, guests and partners of the MECP2020,

due to the first COVID-19 cases in Aachen and an associated increased risk of infection,
the authorities have decided that we are not allowed to carry out MECP2020.
It is a great pity after 2yrs planning, but the safety of our participants has highest priority!
However, we received a lot of encouragement from our guests, sponsors and partners,
so we will not cancel but rather postpone the conference.
We are working intensively on an alternative plan and are pleased to already announce the new date for the
„MECP2020+1“: September 13th to 16th 2021 Aachen (Germany).

We try to keep the general program concept as much as possible and maintain the invitation for the Invited Speakers,
as well as the accepted contributions for talks and posters.
More information regarding the modified procedure will follow soon!
Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience caused by this force majeur
and hope for your support and understanding in this extreme situation.
Thus, we hope to welcome you 2021 to the “MECP2020+1” in Aachen and
are sure you will generate great scientific results until then!

Stay healthy,
Dörte Rother and Torsten Sehl

GENERAL INFORMATION

The MECP-conference series brings together biologists, chemists and engineers from academia and industry to share their knowledge and break new ground in the field of multi-step enzyme catalysis. MECP2020 in Aachen will highlight recently identified novel catalysts and catalytic combinations to synthesize chemical products. Enzymes are the focus, but recent developments also include chemical catalysts or microbial cell factories combined in hybrid processes. Further, MECP2020 will provide a platform to discuss enzyme and process engineering innovations, including continuous reaction modes, systems biology, cascade regulation, and downstream processing. Eminent experts from each topic field are invited in order to initiate creative discussions, interdisciplinary thinking and launch new connections and networks.

“We invite you to share your knowledge and vision of novel enzyme cascade methods, designs, and process applications with us in Aachen in spring 2020.”

– Prof. Dörte Rother and Dr. Torsten Sehl, FZJ Germany

AACHEN – The westernmost city in Germany

Aachen is a town in the very west of Germany with a long history. You might know it as Aix-la-Chapelle, Aquisgrana, Aken or even Cáchy. Treasures from the past can still be found in the historic part of the town, like the UNESCO world heritage site Aachener Dom, one of the oldest cathedrals in Europe. Construction began over 1200 years ago for Charlemagne’s coronation as emperor and later his burial in this unique and beautiful building. Aachen is also a young town, as the home to approximately 60.000 students. Our conference will take place in the upper floor of the SuperC, a modern building of RWTH Aachen University located in the city center. Come enjoy its wonderful panorama with us.
